When this client came into AJ's Jewelry, he wasn't shopping. He was looking for a way to help someone he loves carry a loss with her. He wanted to give her something that would keep that presence close. A pendant in 14 karat white gold, made in the likeness of the breed she had loved, to be worn near her heart for as long as she chose to wear it.

With the vector file finalized, the design moved to our laser engraving and cutting machine — and the pendant began to take form in 14 karat white gold.

The laser first engraved the surface detail of the breed's likeness into the white gold sheet — the texture of the coat, the definition of the facial features, the fine detail that gives the image its character and makes it immediately recognizable as a Jack Russell Terrier. Laser engraving achieves a consistency and precision of line that ensures those details read clearly and sharply across the surface of the metal, giving the finished pendant the definition and presence it needs.

Once the engraving was complete, the laser then cut the pendant out of the white gold sheet — following the outline of the vector file exactly and producing the silhouette of the dog with clean, precise edges that hold the shape true to the breed reference.

From the laser, the pendant went to our bench jeweler for the finishing work that transforms a precision-cut piece of white gold into a piece of fine jewelry. Edges were smoothed, surfaces were polished, and the 14 karat white gold was brought to the bright, cool finish that the metal is known for — a tone that suits this piece beautifully, the silver-white of the gold carrying a quiet elegance that feels appropriate for something made in memory and in love.

The bail was added, the piece was inspected, and a breed outline became a pendant in gold — detailed, finished, and ready to be worn.
